Our Programs
Programs Offered through Chicagoland Prison Outreach
Chicagoland Prison Outreach offers three kinds of ministries to currently or previously incarcerated men and women and their families: in-prison, post-prison and outreach. While the specifics of the individual programs within these ministries may differ, the overarching purpose is always the same—to communicate the love of Christ to those in Cook County Jail, Cook County Sheriff’s Boot Camp (VRIC), State Prisons and our own Career Center in Roseland.
- In-Prison Ministry: Our in-prison ministries provide invaluable discipleship and education services to current inmates, fostering relationships in the process. CPO staff and volunteers provide daily and weekly support to inmates: including discipleship, counseling, and biblical teaching, etc. CPO staff members regularly visit inmates at state prisons with whom a relationship has already been established in Cook County Jail. In the Life Learning Program, we have the opportunity to educate inmates on Christ-like character through the practical application of God’s Word.
- Post-Prison Ministry: After inmates are released, we follow up with them through our Post-Prison Ministry, offering mentoring and accountability to get connected with local churches, receive rehab/recovery for addictions and find places to live and work.
- Outreach Ministry: We also offer several outreach ministries, from Rhoda Fellowship Bible study for women related to incarcerated individuals to Angels of Hope ministry, which helps needy families around the holidays as well as trains local churches to know how to help families of inmates prepare for their return.
Making Disciples for the Glory of God
Christ’s command to go into the world and make disciples extends inside prison walls—to incarcerated men and women, as well as to their families. That’s why Chicagoland Prison Outreach provides support and guidance to these individuals, seeking to reflect the love of Christ and draw others to Him in the process. We offer a wide range of holistic ministries and programs, designed to care for the whole person. Whether it’s through Angels of Hope or Outreach Christian School, CPO serves participants with Biblically oriented, relationship-building services that help men and women find purpose and meaning in Him.
